DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

We think we do a good job. And our clients do too!

No other PR agency matches Black Letter Communications for results or proactivity. Their ability to spot and place a compelling story is second to none, and they consistently secure coverage that makes a real difference.

They have a rare understanding of the sensitivities involved in helping clients during their darkest hours, handling every brief with care, discretion, and professionalism.  Their integrity aligns with the ethos of the firm seamlessly, putting clients at the heart of what they do.

Black Letter integrates with our teams and our clients, combining deep sector knowledge with a genuinely collaborative approach. Their enthusiasm and insight drive real engagement among our fee earners. Thanks to their work, our firm enjoys a significantly enhanced profile.

“We are a specialist regulator, yet consistently manage to punch above our weight when it comes to share of voice. BLC are trusted PR partners who not only understand our responsibilities as a regulator, but who have an excellent grasp of technical issues allowing them to help us communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences. I’m particularly impressed with their proactivity; they don’t wait to be asked to do something and regularly come up with new creative approaches to enable us to be heard.”

Black Letter Communications (BLC) has been an outstanding pro bono partner since 2019, when they began supporting the First 100 Years campaign – marking a century since the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919 which opened the doors of the legal profession to women.

From the outset, the BLC team gave not just their time, but their insight, energy and strategic counsel. Their ability to craft high-impact PR campaigns played a vital role in the success of our centenary celebrations – helping us honour the legacy of women legal pioneers, expose the barriers still holding women back, and inspire a vision for lasting change.

When we launched our successor campaign, the Next 100 Years, we knew we wanted BLC with us. They’ve helped us shape and promote major research projects, raise the profile of key events, and cement our place as a leading voice for gender equality in the legal profession.

They are proactive, responsive, and deeply attuned to both the legal sector and the structural inequalities we are working to dismantle. Their support remains invaluable – not just in what they do, but in the principled, passionate way they do it.

The Black Letter team genuinely feels like an extension of our own. They’re proactive, sharp, and always thinking ahead, there’s no need to chase or brief them on the basics. They just get it, which makes working with them effortless and reassuring.

Their support on litigated matters, inquests, and inquiries has been exceptional. They understand the pressures and sensitivities that come with this kind of work and instinctively know where the boundaries lie. We never have to explain what’s appropriate, they just know. They’re also brilliant with clients: calm, credible, and able to slot seamlessly into wider teams. That kind of experience is rare and a world apart from any other agencies that we’ve worked with. It gives our lawyers real confidence knowing Kerry and the Black Letter team is alongside them.

They’ve also played a big role in helping us raise our profile in this space. Their judgment is spot on, their writing is strong, and they know how to shape a message that lands. On top of all that, they’re just great people – friendly, accessible, and always up for finding a way through. We trust them absolutely and see them as a key partner.

“Working with Black Letter has undoubtedly increased the firm’s profile in the media and improved knowledge across the firm of what it takes to get into the press. The results speak for themselves as there isn’t a month that goes by that Osbornes isn’t mentioned in the national press. Black Letter’s ability to root out stories and draft engaging press releases has been integral to our success.”

Black Letter Communications’ deep understanding of the legal sector, and our niche area in particular, is reflected in the fact that successive ACL Councils have chosen to work with them for over 14 years.

Neil’s sharp technical insight and writing expertise, coupled with Kerry’s strategic counsel and outstanding media relations, continue to enhance our impact as a small but influential representative body.

Beyond consistently strong media results, Black Letter have helped us think more broadly and ambitiously about our role. They’ve challenged and supported us to elevate our voice at both policy and judicial levels, while also strengthening how we communicate with members through carefully crafted, high-impact initiatives.

We always enjoy working with Black Letter—they’re professional, but they also know how to keep things fun.

We consider Kerry and Neil a vital part of the Council’s extended support team.

Justin’s knowledge, assistance and ability to put the clients at ease in an extremely stressful situation was fantastic and his help made the litigation process much easier for myself and my clients. Additionally the high profile coverage he achieved fulfilled the clients’ desire to have their story told while controlling the narrative.

In 2025, we had the pleasure of working with BLC throughout the entirety of our son’s second inquest at Avon Coroner’s Court.

An inquest is always a difficult experience for any family, but in Ben’s case, we were facing a second inquest after we fought for the conclusion of the first inquest to be quashed.

There were eight different legal teams present at the inquest, which made it all the more complex and added to the difficulty and stress placed upon our family.

Ben died at just two months old, and his death attracted a large amount of media interest over the ten years that followed. This, in itself, added a further complex issue for us to deal with.

Before the inquest, we met with Kerry Jack (CEO) and Lucy Gardner (Senior Consultant) to discuss the challenges we would likely face. From the first meeting, what stood out to us was how they listened to the complexities of the case and took a caring and compassionate approach. This approach to our family continued throughout the inquest.

We believed there would be some engagement with the BLC team at the start and end of the inquest, as these are the periods that attract the most media attention. However, due to the constant media interest throughout, I cannot recall a day when Lucy did not reach out to us or meet with us at the coroner’s court. Her involvement protected us throughout, and we cannot thank her and the BLC team enough. They went above and beyond in their role with media engagement, but more importantly, they consistently protected our family. This was especially important to us due to our vulnerability and the health issues we face as a result of Ben’s death and the ten-year pursuit for the truth surrounding his death.

It is hard to put into words how successfully BLC dealt with Ben’s inquest. We will forever be grateful for their support and for going above and beyond on our behalf.
